CARBONDALE, Ill. — January 1, 2023
The School of Computing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is proud to announce that Saika Zaman, a master’s student in Computer Science, has been accepted to present her submission at the 2023 CMD-IT/ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, held in Dallas, Texas.
The Tapia Conference is one of the most influential diversity-focused computing events in the United States, bringing together students, educators, researchers, and industry professionals to celebrate achievements and promote inclusion within the computing community. Saika’s acceptance into this highly selective program reflects both the quality of her work and her dedication to advancing diversity and excellence in computer science.
In addition to being invited to present, Saika has also earned a place in the poster competition, where she will share her research with conference attendees and judges. Her submission received an outstanding 4.0 / 4.0 rating from all reviewers — a testament to the rigor and impact of her research.
Further recognizing her achievements, Saika has been awarded the prestigious Tapia Scholarship, which covers her conference registration, travel expenses (up to $600), and a three-night hotel stay during the event. This support allows her to participate fully in the conference and engage with leaders across academia and industry.
“We are thrilled to see Saika represent SIU on a national stage. Her work exemplifies the excellence and perseverance of our graduate students and showcases the strength of our research programs in computing.”
